It’s rare to find a children’s presenter who has a dynamic style AND important, quality program content. But Ms. Crockett has both, not to mention her exquisite musical talents. This is a program far too good to pass up, for audiences of all backgrounds. She brilliantly connects the past and the present, makes history and music come alive, and manages to teach, inspire, inform, and engage even the youngest participants. We loved every bit of her workshop, and can’t recommend her highly enough for programming in libraries, schools, community centers, or anywhere!

Online Song Workshops and Vocal Tech Classes

I have had the pleasure of participating in Alison’s group classes this past year and it has been an incredibly enriching experience. Alison not only has a deep understanding of the technical aspects of singing, but also an ability to connect with each student on a personal level within the group class setting. Her class structure is well-organized, incorporating a brief history of the song we’re working on, technical exercises, and performance opportunities in which she encourages us to explore our own unique sound. In School Workshops

In just one class period, Alison was able to connect with my students, and get them singing, moving, and loving the idea of jazz. She even got several students to sing solo improvisations! We are here to educate students of all ages about the joy of jazz rhythms, harmonies, and improvisation in choral and solo singing settings to create a sense of community and cultural harmony between all generations of singers.

We aim to make connections between traditional jazz and modern American music forms from the African Diaspora(Black American Music) so that we serve all backgrounds and singing levels, but we particularly hope to instill a sense of pride, knowledge and inspiration to black & brown children and adults.

Our programs create community by linking all generations from young to old through various kinds of cultural, solo and choral singing activities, both in person and online, giving all an opportunity to learn, sing, share and build musical appreciation of jazz.
